Saracen, Shimano & Madison Partner to Rebuild Aston Hill Bike Park
3 December 2025 | By billy1979Saracen, Shimano and Madison are proud to announce a major new partnership with Aston Hill Bike Park, working together to restore one of the South’s most iconic mountain bike venues. Once the region’s premier downhill spot, Aston Hill is now set to return stronger than ever.
Rebuilding a Classic With Bike Park Chilterns CiC
Saracen has joined forces with the newly formed Bike Park Chilterns CiC, who are leading the redevelopment and long-term stewardship of Aston Hill. Shimano is backing the project through its Trail Born fund—a global 10-year commitment to supporting trails and the people who build them.
This collective effort will bring Aston Hill back to life after its closure in 2020 due to ash dieback, ensuring the venue’s legacy continues for the next generation of riders.
Saracen Becomes Exclusive Bike Partner
As part of the park’s revival, Saracen will become Aston Hill’s exclusive bike partner when it reopens in March 2026. Riders will be able to demo a fleet of hire bikes on fresh new trails, while on-site Saracen infrastructure—including a dedicated container, welcome cabin and branded zones—will help create a polished and rider-focused experience.
Further support comes from Shimano, Madison Clothing and Lazer, provided through the Madison and Sportline business, ensuring the park launches with top-tier equipment, kit and protection.
A Partnership Rooted in Local Riding Culture
Ian Warby, Director, Bike Park Chilterns CIC:
“Aston Hill has always had a strong connection with Saracen and Madison, and formalising that relationship as we rebuild the bike park feels like a natural next step. Madison is only a short distance from the hill, and their support over the years has played a key role in growing the local riding community. We’re excited to be working together again and to showcase what the Chilterns can offer riders.”
John Holbrook, Director, Bike Park Chilterns CIC:
“This partnership is a huge moment for the rebuild of Aston Hill. Having Saracen and Madison’s industry-leading backing reinforces how important this park is to riders both regionally and nationally. As we enter the build phase, their support gives us the confidence to push forward and set a new standard for what Aston Hill can become.”
A Venue With Deep MTB Heritage
For over 25 years, Aston Hill has been a staple of the UK riding scene—home to countless races, steep technical trails and a vibrant local community. The redevelopment aims not only to rebuild what was lost, but to elevate the hill beyond anything seen before.
Dominic Langan, Madison CEO:
“Aston Hill has held a special place in the UK MTB scene for many years, and we are delighted to support its reopening with Saracen, Shimano, Madison Clothing and Lazer. This partnership is about more than putting our names on trails—it’s about investing in the riding community, inspiring the next generation and ensuring riders have access to great trails, the right kit and the safest equipment.
“On a personal level, Aston Hill is where I took the call that completed the deal to buy Saracen Bikes. To return now as a sponsor feels like coming full circle, and I can’t wait to see the hill buzzing with riders again.”
Looking Ahead: A New Era for Aston Hill
The park is scheduled to reopen in March 2026 with two brand-new trails, offering a redefined Aston Hill experience. Over the next 5–10 years, at least seven new trails are planned, with work already underway.
The goal is simple: restore Aston Hill as a must-ride destination for UK mountain bikers.
